Veterinary Diagnostic Services

Our in-house lab lets us discover what’s wrong quickly

Full Service Veterinary Diagnostic Capabilities

At Sugar Creek Animal Hospital, we understand that you want the best possible care for your pet- and that you want it right away. That’s why we’ve developed an in house lab that lets us run a full array of tests to help diagnose nearly any issue.

It’s clear that many illnesses and medical conditions that affect our animal companions cannot be detected on the surface of the skin. Some show no sign until they are fully developed. That’s why veterinary diagnostic tools are so important. These tools allow us to delve deeper, below the surface of the skin, to identify, diagnose and treat these conditions in a timely manner.

Sugar Creek Animal Hospital offers a wide range of veterinary diagnostic services for our patients, including:

Urine testing
Fecal analysis
Blood analysis
Radiography (x-ray)
K-laser and more.

Our state-of-the-art facilities also feature a convenient in-house laboratory, which allows for timely and accurate test results.

The sooner we are able to get to the bottom of what’s ailing your four-legged companion, the sooner we can develop and implement the appropriate course of treatment and return them to their normal, active lifestyle.

On Site Radiography

Everyone understands how important x-rays are to the diagnostic process in humans and it’s no different for our pets. Our staff uses our x-ray room to quickly examine your pet’s bones, lungs, heart, abdomen and other areas to help diagnose and monitor many medical and surgical conditions.

Having this tool in house allows us to assess anything from fractured bones to foreign objects in the body and many other medical situations.

In-House Laboratory

Whether we’re performing preventive veterinary medicine or trying to diagnose a presenting health problem with your pet requires the ability to perform a variety of different laboratory tests.

Our staff has the ability to run lab tests on blood, urine, feces and even some biopsied tissue. This means you and your pet have access to test results quickly. Our ability to get accurate test results means we’re able to diagnose your pet’s issues without any unnecessary waiting and we can move into the treatment phase faster.

Our laboratory testing often allows our veterinarian to obtain information about your pet’s overall systemic health without the need for other invasive and expensive procedures. Annual wellness blood and urine tests can detect things like heartworm disease, Lyme disease, infections, feline leukemia, intestinal parasites, urinary tract infections, and many additional diseases and conditions that can go unnoticed in their early stages.
Routine and early blood testing can show evidence of disease such as diabetes, changes in liver or kidney function, or simply provide a baseline for future reference. We often include diagnostic testing in pre-anesthetic screenings prior to dental or surgical procedures that require general anesthesia.

K-Laser

While it might sound like something from a sci-fi movie, K-laser therapy provides a drug-free alternative to help with a wide variety of issues such as:

  • To reduce inflammation
  • Improve nerve function
  • To treat arthritis
  • Manage pain
  • Promote wound healing
  • Reduce scarring

This non-invasive treatment causes no discomfort and does not require sedation. We simply follow the required protocols for the proper usage and the cold laser is moved over the affected area for 10-20 minutes. Call us about the uses for this incredible technology.

At Sugar Hill Animal Hospital, we are committed to the expert care and attention of your four-legged family members. Call us and schedule an appointment today.
